In this tutorial I will be showing you how to use the Create mode.
I'm making it just cause there is only few tutorials for it at the moment.
Create mode is the inside IMVU creation tool taking the place of previewer.
In this tutorial I'm going to use IMVU and the Create mode and GIMP.
We shall make a basic hair re texturing.

Ok, first of you need to open IMVU and go to Create Mode. Create mode can be found from the panel on the right.
Click on the arrow on the right and you should see the icon for Create mode on the last line.

Image

Now it should open up like this.

There are these three boxes saying "Derive a new product", "Open a local project" and "Edit my products".
We will be deriving a hair so we choose "Derive a new product".

Image

Next we will need the ID of the product we will use. So go to your browser and to http://www.imvu.com and then find a product to derive from on the catalog.
When finding always remember to click "show derivable products only"

(IMAGE NO LONGER EXISTS)

For this tutorial i will be deriving from this, http://www.imvu.com/shop/product.php?pr ... id=6080684.
So the product ID we will use is 6080684.
When deriving always remember to go backwards on the derivation list to find the cheaper price, the original one. Mostly these also have textures for you to use
In these cases always use the textures at least as a base. It is WAY easier when deriving from complex stuff, hair textures are always the same you know.
Now type the ID to the bar.

Image

Now just click "Derive".

Now a screen with a noob avatar wearing the item will show up. The panel on the right shows the textures and settings etc.

Image

Next, we will need a texture to use for the hair. Notice the numbers under the textures picture saying 256x256. This is the size of the texture,
256 pixels wide and 256 pixels high.
So just open a new pic on GIMP or which ever program you are using with height 256px and width 256px.

Now color the base with the color you will use as base color of the hair.

Next use RGB noise to get a lot of black dots.

Image

Now use Gaussian Blur as vertical blur to make it look like this.

Image

Next create a new layer and add shine by getting a horizontal white blurred line across the texture.
Blur it like you did before, then change the layers transparency to make it look realistic(ish) like this.

(IMAGE NO LONGER EXISTS)

Now back to the Create mode. Click on "edit" on the texture and put in the one you just made, then click apply changes from above.

Image

Now you should see the hair on the avatar.

To change the shine to dark just change the white to black and do the exact same things.

Now just edit it around and when you think its ready just click upload, fill the form and pay the derivation and upload fees.

That's about it, if you have any questions I will be happy help you.

 I guess the part He points RGB noise (RGB-kohina) is inside the Noise (Kohina) by clicking Filter (Suotimet) on menu bar.that's for making the start by dots.
and then you do the 2nd steps by adding Gaussian Blur (Gauss-sumennus) from the Blur (Sumenna) submenu by clicking the Filter (Suotimet) menu again.this for adding line blur textures for it.
For the 3rd steps you need to getting the white transparent layer on top of it to make it shine !
now you should see the hair on the avatar and the room you saved for test.
