Is it even worth it? (A rant)

I have been creating on IMVU for a year now. And me, being jobless, I'm able to create and keep creating due to me calling DaoPay almost 4 times a month.
Which, as you guessed, skyrockets my phone bill. The plan or subscription I have is a joint account between me, my brother and our parents.
Yes, due to unforeseen personal reasons I still live at home. And I may keep living at home if the government keeps on deciding that buying a house or even renting one should be more expensive than what a young couple can even pay.

Back to IMVU.

I have managed to put out some hairs, clothes, etc. with buying credits through my phone. Which most of the time costs my dad, 18 euros. 18 Euros times 4? Yeah, you can do the math.
It's not cheap... And I have yet to find a way for me to keep saving credits. Instead of getting to 2K and spending it all.

I have decided to even create a Gumroad and ko-fi shop to sell IMVU hair files on. Textures I have created. This way I earn a little money and can hopefully finance any subscriptions or IMVU even, with my own money.

But is it really worth it?

I mean — people, some of them, buy my stuff but I don't get 100K in return. (just an example)
I get 2K, 1K ... and that's all great! But I wish to get 100K for once. And the only way for me to get 100K is to keep creating.
Or dance my butt off in IMVU strip clubs. Or ... buy it through my phone.
I am horrible when it comes to saving money as is. Credits is even worse.

But is IMVU even worth it?

Yes, I love creating! I love to see people buy my stuff. I love it when people leave reviews, model my clothes, etc. But is wasting real life money really worth it? I don't think so.
And if I don't put money into IMVU, I won't be able to keep my shop open. If I don't keep my shop open, I don't have credit income and without that, well... I just have to keep buying credits instead of just, I don't know... relying on people buying my IMVU products.

I just wish there was an easier way...

I wish IMVU gave back to us. Especially to heavy spenders like me. It would help small shops a lot if IMVU can support us with a monthly allowance for example. Instead of opening up the creator centre and creating events like SBS, it would be fun to be supported by IMVU as well.

So I don't spend my whole bank account on a game that doesn't care and doesn't even bother to show it does, whether it's faked or not. I want to feel supported as a small shop.

Here's what I think. I think you should never buy credits from IMVU, a person like me for example sells credits 50% off their actual price. NEVER spend on IMVU, period. You want to get affordable credits and make a successful shop.

I know where you're coming from, and I think the only way to be successful as a creator is follow originality, consistency, and creativity as main concepts. Since you love doing math, think about this: you get 50k credits for $25 from a guy like me, that's enough to last you a while creating. Once you make it to having a desirable shop, you'll get paid more and more. I'd suggest you monetize your products to 100% credits, and I can even sell you those but the amount of $ you'd be making is far higher than $25. I'd take my cut of course, but it's a win-win business. IMVU taxes you credits, and then even if you monetize your products to 100% money, the money made is pathetic, it's literally in pennies.

Now you can change your market niche or type of products to sell so you can make more, targeting a different type of customers. For example, some do custom products for their customers, custom mesh heads, custom chains, custom rooms/poses/furniture. Those make lots of credits because each product is usually expensive and people still buy it. You buy credits for cheap, invest them into making products, profit from the products, sell the credits, you get back your invested $ & more. And the process is almost automated when employing someone who takes care of your finances like myself.

Following that plan, to me, that's how you build a good income stream. Put some desirable products that people buy on the regular, keep creating, get paid, contact me, sell, profit. Rinse and repeat. Believe me, IMVU is fun when you have credits. It is worth it, if you're not losing much. There's something satisfying about getting paid for doing the things you love doing. One day you'll be able to have enough money to pay the phone bill on your own and enjoy finer things in life. A small monthly allowance from an online virtual game wouldn't hurt now would it?

It is worth a shot. Wish you best of luck.
