@DataMine….this is very comforting to know that we will still get the protection like imvulite has given us. Thank you for all the hard work….it is greatly appreciate…but i really hope this would be more years ahead.

So does this mean that $4.99 vip would also give us the ability to create plus receiving hosting benifits? And does this mean that they wont be offering yearly or 3 months vip subscription…? So what really is the difference between the 3 tiered VIP subscription?

Unfortunately if Classic is really going to be retiring soon, I'm probably going to retire also and try to test out SL more like KoKoNyny did. Even though I think almost every part of the new client is horrible compared to the classic (in my opinion of course),I could try to get used to, but the graphic downgrade and the fact that products that I use in my avatar get bugged in the new client is unacceptable for me.The only way they would listen would be if people started voting with their wallet, but unfortunately that won't happen.-- Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:29 pm -- DataMine wrote:@thessa thessa wrote:@Don Von Alpha Dom….if imvu classic will no longer be available…what would happen to imvulite and deep client?They are base on the classic imvu right?Is this why they are pushing creator to use the new create?This will take a lot of people out of imvu….
If it becomes necessary, we will attempt to modify whatever client they replace the classic one with. I can't guarantee it will have all the same features or if we'll even be able to succeed but we will try.Hopefully though the new client won't include all the things that make IMUVLite necessary though.
@DataMinePretty sure its going to be the "Desktop version". Just on curiosity DataMine, did you already gave a look on the Desktop version code? And is it the same language as the classic one?

@Tenente

Sad to know that you would be retiring imvu if classic retire….there has to be an answer to this…..Don and DataMine for sure would come up with something if this happens. As for your question to DataMine….i am curious of as well to which language does the new client uses……

We took a look at the beta client a year or so ago. It's a completely different technology than the classic client. I was able to make it load our website instead of IMVU, but we didn't bother with it much more than that.

@sadecatgirlI don't know how I could give you a link, but you can search it with the time filter. The message has 23 hours and starts with : IMVU is working on the future, not the past (lol).

@Tenente

regarding the classic client...

please bear in mind that there is a difference between IMVU ending support of the classic client versus when the app actually stops working on your PC.

it is important to tease out this difference, as it involves the REAL end-of-life date of the classic client.

let's say IMVU "sunsets" the classic client in 1-2 years, at which point you can no longer download it from their site. the real question, though, is when the existing classic client that you've got on your PC (and, by extension the various h4c|<7d clients) stops working, and that could be a much later date.

the beta client could be a totally different code base, but does it use a different web API? is IMVU planning to switch to a totally different web API? these are the important questions.

if beta uses the same web API as the classic client, and if IMVU has no plans to change this API, then classic will continue to work, even unsupported. if IMVU makes some slight changes to the web API, the classic client could be modified to continue working.

the classic client will stop working when IMVU changes their server web API in a way that is really no longer compatible, AND the change cannot be h4c|<7d around.

personally, i would expect IMVU to sunset support for the classic client on the time frame they have announced, but i would be quite surprised if they also changed their server API to intentionally shut out users of classic.

if they were to do that, they would instantly lose a very large number of users/customers, and they are already going to lose a bunch in the current dumpster fire of VIP tiers, not to mention all the people who tried beta, said 'meh', and just continued using classic.

I wouldn't try to use h4c|<7d clients past the time they try to force shut down the clients. That's just asking for your account to get disabled when it keeps making calls to API's that should not be receiving calls anymore. I can see them leaving those API's open just to catch people using h4c|<7d clients to get around the sunset date.

im not very tech savy in the meaning of code and stuff but those are interesting points u have! i just spoke to one of my friends about it...he's not too worried about it cuz he says that he promises me that this won't happen because he happens to be friends with a representative. he asked where i was getting the info from i told him it was from a lead mod on the discussion forums. he says not to believe what a mod says unless it's from a client developer otherwise falsified information.

i'll take his word for it but i'll see if i can get anymore info from him.

Infortunately if that was the case, I think they would already had done something years ago when the desktop version was announced. If they are doing this, I believe it's something they can take the L.

knowing that they already loss a chunk of mac users since apple stopped supporting 32 bit systems...yeah...they're gonna lose another huge chunk of users from classic client cuz the new one still has a ton of issues and features that aren't added in yet!
