You're welcome. I found it out by accident. I won't upgrade my client and still use old one....works like a charm.

Back OT now. :)

I lost tons of credits/cash in the Audio change but I've chalked it up to IMVU being greedy as usual and trying to move on. :(

I purchased a large collection of songs from SirKnight57. His audio products were HIS creations. Hence he'd have the copyrights to the work. Furthermore I purchased them before the 20 second cap was even on 'new' items. So even the 'copyright violation' excuse doesn't fly with those things. They made an entirely legitimate business transaction and stiffed me. Furthermore, they won't refund me because it was made a long time ago? At minimum this is 'Bait and Switch'. Which, is still at it's core a fraudulent business move.

Same thing happened to Guitarland. His was original music performed by him and he got the screw as well as his customers. He even made musical instruments which had songs attached.......SOL now. You are the guys I feel sorry for.

Yeah... I 'PARTIALLY' understand the copyright concerns,(Limewire got shut down for that sort of thing recently afterall...) but screwing over everything in the catalog as a shortcut to fight the alleged 'music piracy' and refusing to give refunds to EVERYONE, is going about it entirely the wrong way. However, according to IMVU's own statement... credits have 'no monetary value' so, wouldn't buying from their 'official' music store be just as illegal and infringe upon copyrights just as much, since it'd be the equivalent of going to a store and buying a CD with monopoly money? Hmm...

Hmmm, you make a good point. I never read/heard about Imvu saying that so that's news to me.

Frostwire: http://www.frostwire.com/
^^ Made by the same people, but you get premium turbo speeds for free..., and it is blue.

Yep yep. I know about Frostwire already. There's a lot of replacement's that have popped up. The Gnutella network didn't get shut down, limewire was but a client that accessed it. Either way, the recent efforts to 'stop the spread of piracy' is a waste of money, manhours, and effort. For every pirate site they shut down, 10 more spring up in their place, and after a few weeks, the shut down site just changes their domain and IT'S back up as well.

I whole heartedly agree, Customers show be refunded for all the Trigger songs that was taken from them ( well not taken but limited to 20 seconds it's like McDonalds selling you a fish sandwich and only giving you only half a sandwich), It's also so wrong of them to keep the products in the catalog still for sale. Any new people joining the imfu community who knows no better are still buying these trigger songs finding that they are only 20 sec long, So a lot of future paying customers are going to get a sour taste for imfu and not continue on imfu. So any future income imvu would gain would then be lost. Isn't the first goal for a business, growth to increase profits.

With the economy like it is today people will not stand long for paying something and getting nothing. IMVU needs to realize the money they are making from there members is not on top of there must buy lists

It's fine imvu is a business and as a business they need to make money but a business must support there products to continue in the business.

I somehow understand why IMVU limited the triggered music to 20 seconds. I quess it was because of music copyrights. I just wonder why it took 2 years to make it happen. IMVU had all the tools to limit the audio files starting september 2008 (when issue was announced) but instead they just let users to add music to catalog and getting their own shares of the sales. Were IMVU threaten by a 3dr party with a lawsuit if they dont make the changes? I believe so.
A quote:
"Copyright infringement is the unauthorized or prohibited use of works under copyright, infringing the copyright holder's exclusive rights, such as the right to reproduce or perform the copyrighted work, or to make derivative works."

I believe that most of those who were posting triggered music to IMVU catalog were aware of music copyrights, which is hard to prove when asked though. I also think 99% of the triggered music in imvu catalog is/was 3rd party property. Were the copyright owners aware of IMVU as a market place for music and did they get paid for it? To who belongs the responsibility of the violations? In my opinion to imvu because they should control the market place. So, IMVU neglegted their liabilities of copyrights at least 2 years and gaining with it? Has IMVU paid for the sold triggered music to the copyright owners? How about liabilities of IMVU to 3rd parties?
I am just here to give another view to this conversation and make questions. If the changes would have done already 2008, the situation would have not escalated to this level.
Maybe IMVU should check their relation behaviour towards their customers.... As LordSoulFire (CCI STAFF, EX-APC ( IMVU Access Pass Council )) has already publicly announced that IMVU has failed to meet customer expectations and satisfaction. I do like IMVU as a meeting place but it is ruled like past Soviet Union. What happened to the freedom of speech in IMVU without being afraid of get disabled? Maybe imvu is afraid of bad publicity but putting customers "blindfolded and shot" brings more bad publicity, than having patience and trying to solve the problems peacefully. I work with customers every day in real life and 30 years of experience I can say that rumors has a lot stronger effect than any advertisement. You all can figure it out what it means. There is always unsatisfied customers, deal with it IMVU and do the things right.
