Reminds me of when I'd ask my mom for a car and when she'd say no I'd ask for a bike. When she'd say no I'd say that if I'm going to walk could I at least get some new shoes, to which she agreed. I never expected her to buy me the car but it raised the chances of her agreeing to get me shoes as it was reasonable in comparison
