I am in the process of designing a user box that will go above the new menu. It will contain information about your account like your name, avatar, rank, medit amount etc...
And when you're not logged in the user box will contain the login link that activates a login dialog that will overlay the screen like how most modern site do.
I could possibly add a logout link to the user box when you're logged in.
