New Index Page Voting

Which Index page do you like better?

This change was made because requests from users wanting a more OCD valid theme on our site: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8470&hilit=theme
If this change stays or not is up to how the community votes on it.

I spent 6 hours making the new index and DM spent 1 hour peer editing it for us.

For those of you who do not like the new index, you can still use the old index here: index3.php

I'm undecided, there are a few things I like about the new one but some other things I want to try changing. I think the shoutbox rules and the ip banner should be back above the shoutbox. Just need to figure out a way to clean it up a bit.

the only thing i dont like about the new one, is that you cant see who was the last to post in a forum category. (like on the far right of the old one)
other then that i definitely like the new one more.

Just use the "View unread posts" option at the top of the index page to view things you haven't seen yet.

I plan on adding a bit of script so that when you over over a forum category, a little tool tip pops up with that info. Till then, clicking a category will give you all of that information. Also, as DM said, we have "new posts" & "unread posts" links in the top right corner.

yeah lol i never knew about that

that would definitely help out for finding unread posts lol

Post data tool tips have been added.
I have not styled them yet nor checked cross browser compatibility, but you should be able to see what I have so far.

It's a good start. Can you make the box appear wherever your cursor is when you hover over the section? Also, it's not displaying the last poster, is it supposed to?

But this is a confirmation that it works on Firefox and IE 8.

It does follow your mouse if you are not logged in...but for some reason the moment you log in it stops. I think the chat bar on our site might be messing with the code.
